Our Client


Our client is an Indigenous media organisation servicing 14 remote communities across 250,000km of Western Australia. Programs in their multi-million dollar media centre are in high demand, enabling our client to have sustainably grown over the last 10 years.

The Opportunity


Our client is seeking a Community Training & Recruitment Teacher/Leader to join their company in a remote Western Australian location, for a one year contract with the potential to earn up to $72,000 pa ($60,000pa Salary + Super + remote location allowance of $4133 + annual airfare of $1275). In addition, you will receive four weeks leave on on top of any statutory leave. You will also be provided a 4WD vehicle and furnished accommodation and utilities, both at base and within communities. 

This is a full-time position on a yearly contract due to commence as soon as possible. A successful candidate will be invited to visit the community before the Christmas break.

The primary purpose of this position is to train, supervise and support local staff to manage the day-to-day functioning of all media centres so that the centres are open for a minimum of 20 hours per week, and become peer mentors able to pass on appropriate digital skills to others.

Reporting directly to General Manager some of your responsibilities include:


  • Promoting services and facilities available to encourage and support community use of Community Resource Centres
  • Preparing monthly written reports on all media centres activities
  • Monitoring all maintenance needs in the media centres, including equipment, computers and buildings
  • Assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and procedures 
  • Assessing ongoing training needs across the organisation 
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of appropriate programs 
  • Liaising with local Community Development Program coordinators and identify potential company team members

Who You Are

To be successful for this role you will have a valid drivers licence with exceptional manual vehicle skills. It would be advantageous to have skills or a certificate in 4WD-Offroad. You must have exceptional written and oral communication skills. 

You will have IT experience and/or skills with Windows computers, with the ability to teach others.

You will have a teaching background with skills and experience in:

  • Peer mentoring
  • Training 

It would be advantageous to have skills or experience in:

  • Working with Indigenous people & within communities 
  • Understanding of the political, social & economic factors that affect Indigenous people 
  • Qualifications in Training & Assessment 

This role would suit a candidate that is patient, resilient and can communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment. Knowledge and understanding of political, social and economic factors affecting Aboriginal people is a must, along with the ability to live and work in a remote and alcohol-free community.
