About The Opportunity 

Our client is looking for a business-savvy person to ensure their Talking Matters campaign runs effectively and to develop the expertise, reach and impact of the campaign and their staff.

Talking Matters is a campaign that promotes talking more and differently with babies and young children to set them up for success in education and life. 

If you have a proven track record in operations, team management and mentoring for growth - this is your chance to use your skills to make a real difference to children and families. 

Reporting directly to The Talking Matters Campaign Director and based in Auckland's CBD, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop operating strategies, plans and procedures to meet Talking Matters campaign objectives and targets
  • Create and lead a culture of learning and development to meet the needs of a growing organisation

You will also:

  • Work with the Talking Matters campaign director to develop systems that record and report data for the campaign
  • Support the campaign director to leverage opportunities for more funding and growth
  • Work with the Finance Director to develop and manage the Talking Matters budget to meet outcomes
  • Manage Human Resources and Administration across the organisation
  • Build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners

About the Organisation

Our client is a non-profit trust supporting education initiatives across Auckland through collaborations with many diverse stakeholders, partner organisations and communities. They coordinate action and trial new initiatives, looking for clear evidence about what works.

Talking Matters is a campaign led by our client to wrap interaction and talk around children so they flourish as thinkers, talkers and readers. To succeed the Talking Matters team works together with community partners to find solutions that will stick long-term and be scalable nationally. Talking Matters is especially interested in working with Maori and Pasifika communities to advance outcome for these communities. 

About You 

You will have:

  • A successful track record in planning and leading project implementation and organisational systems
  • Expertise in business functions and systems such as HR, outcomes tracking, strategic development and planning, budgeting analysis and information systems
  • An exceptional capacity for managing and leading people and for building the capacity of individuals and the team as a whole
  • The ability to think strategically and put strategy into action
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, not-for-profit management or other relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

You may also have:

  • Strong cultural competencies, including experience working with Maori and Pacific communities
  • An interest in education, social change or community development would be a distinct advantage
